Wilmington officer reunites with woman he helped save from Bitcoin scam

WILMINGTON, N.C. — A Wilmington police officer recently reunited with a woman he helped protect from losing nearly $10,000 in a Bitcoin scam.

According to the Wilmington Police Department, Mrs. Nunley was targeted in what officers described as an elaborate scam several weeks ago.

Police say Officer Morrison stepped in and helped her navigate the situation before she lost the money.

The department says Morrison was able to act quickly and keep Nunley from becoming another scam victim.

The two reunited at Nunley’s home Thursday afternoon.

Wilmington police shared photos from the reunion and called it a special moment.

The department says more video and information about the story will be released soon.

Police continue to remind people to be cautious of unexpected requests for money, especially when someone asks for payment through cryptocurrency, gift cards or other difficult-to-trace methods.
